Summary

07/30/2019

    • The party returned to the hideout and filled in Igni and the others. Rikara told Igni that Dosga and she had gone to the temple and told Glorybuff they knew her. Igni asked how that had gone and Rikara told her that Glorybuff had said he missed Igni. The dwarf decided she’d have to get to the temple for services and asked Rikara if the First Sword had said anything else. Rikara chuckled saying that the man had gotten pissed at Dosga for asking for free healing.

    • Igni asked Arael how he was doing and if he had gotten some sleep. Arael told her he was fine and that he was rested. Igni believed him. Igni said she was glad and Arael said that this was part of the reason he had given them all some responsibility.

    • Vreth was making his way downstairs to talk to Garakas. Rikara noticed him sneaking off and went with him, reminding Vreth that it was important that the Tiefling not die. Vreth assured her that he was just going to “find a few things out”. Rikara, not trusting him, followed him down.

    • Concerned about revealing his identity, Vreth asked Arael if he had any more of those memory spells to cast, and Arael said he would need to rest before using one again. Vreth decided that time was too short to wait, and went down to the basement without disguising himself. Arael considered following, but ultimately did not. Janiven warned them as they got to the steps to “be careful what you say, please.”

    • Vreth and Rikara went down into the basement to find Garakas as brooding and forlorn as ever. The tiefling taunted Vreth, but Vreth cast a charm person spell on him and found him more agreeable and not quite so secretive. Vreth asked about Palaviin and whether or not he was really the grandson of Mammon and it seemed that Garakas didn’t know…but also that he didn’t care. “It scares the locals pretty well…no matter what.”

    • Vreth then asked about the curse…the tiefling asked who Rikara was and whether or not they could talk freely in front of her. He asked if the rest of Vreth’s friends knew that Vreth worked for them and had made a deal with them. Rikara told the punk that she was just a friend and that’s all he needed to know. Vreth suggested that he tell them either way and Garakas replied only that “What matters is that you thought it was real.”

    • Vreth and Rikara were both stunned. Vreth thanked Garakas and walked away. Rikara though, was enraged and told Vreth he should kick the tiefling’s ass and if he didn’t, she would. Vreth, with this prompting cast a spell on Garakas, wounding him greatly…to the point that they weren’t even sure if he was alive. Rikara, seeing Vreth had gone too far, rushed into the cell to see if Garakas was alive, but couldn’t tell.

    • Janiven was on her way down the stairs, when Vreth pulled out a wand and healed him enough that he was at least breathing. Janiven scolded the two for their behavior, attacking a helpless man. Rikara told Vreth that he should tell Janiven about the curse. Vreth admitted that the “curse” was a fraud and Rikara admitted that she had pushed him to attack the man. Janiven told the two they had to tell Arael about this incident…

    • Before walking sheepishly upstairs, Rikara whispered to Vreth “He got what was coming to him. I don’t give a shit what Arael thinks…”

    • Before they left Vreth basement, Garakas hissed “bastard!” Vreth turned back. “You are the bastard.” And walked out.

    • Vreth told Arael what they had done and Rikara told him of her part in it and why they were so pissed…that the Bastards had been duping them all along.

    • Arael surprisingly said that he understood and didn’t fault Vreth for over-reacting. But that they should make sure they didn’t become the kind of people who did things like that…

    • Igni asked Vreth if he was okay and surprisingly, Vreth admitted he felt better than he had in a while. Igni suggested he do something to celebrate his freedom, and Vreth immediately thought of Desdemona.

    • He rushed to her room and talked to her about the incident and when he told her it had all been a ruse, she rushed over to him and embraced him tightly. She asked if there was anything stopping him from getting revenge now. Vreth had decided that there had been enough killing and Des urged him to reconsider as there would be a chance they would do this to someone else. Vreth said he would let her know the plan when he thought of it.

    • Rikara went to see Ermalos and told him the update. They agreed that they should destroy the Bastards but after the recent talk with Janiven and Arael…and even Vreth, Rikara was unsure if that’s what they wanted. Ermalos urged her there was no way BUT to destroy them and ultimately, Rikara agreed.

    • Igni approached Rikara and asked how she was doing…after the “close encounter” in the Knot. She asked specifically how things were going with the cursed necklace and Avengin’s edge. Rikara sighed, slightly annoyed that Igni still didn’t trust her…but assured her that things were fine and that she didn’t even have the artifacts anymore.

      • “I just wanted to check on you.” Igni said.

      • “I’m fine Igni. I worship Gorum…I, frankly, don’t know why you can’t believe that.”

      • “I’m just checking on you as a friend. I thought we were friends.”

      • “So did I.”

    • Igni ran a quick errand to the Glitter Palace to talk to Tarvi. The dwarf found her in the throes of being conversationally assaulted by a fairly handsome gentleman. Igni overheard something about him possibly courting her, but then made her presence known and Tarvi seemed relieved. The man left in a huff.

    • Igni asked about the man and Tarvi seemed frustrated and explained that this man was latest in a very long line of suitors her parents had attempted to set her up with to try and get her married into nobility. Igni empathized.

    • Tarvi remembered that she had made for Igni some platinum rings and gave them to her. Tarvi glanced around before asking in hushed tones if there had been any progress in getting into Delvehaven. Igni said there had been some progress and that she should talk to “Big A” if she wanted to know more. Before leaving Igni asked Tarvi if she would be interested in coming with them to the mystery house. She was very excited about the prospect and came immediately.

    • Rikara asked Vreth how he was feeling about killing the Bastards. Vreth expressed desire to not kill them. Rikara (unbeknownst to her) echoed Desdemona’s sentiments that it would be awful if the Bastards were to do that to someone else.

    • Rikara bade farewell to Ermalos and he told her they’d check out the business with goblins during the day.

    • Ailin told the gang all she knew about the Sisters of Eiseth and that they all desired to become Furies in the afterlife. She also told them that the Sisters hoarded the remains of their victims in the Massacre House.

    • The gang readied for the massacre house deciding to take with them Yakapulio, Janiven and Tarvi.

    • The got near the Massacre House and sent Yakapulio ahead to see if she could unlock the door. She was able to and they snuck inside. They sent Yakapulio up ahead once more and heard a cry of a woman from up in the next room.

    • Turns out Yakapulio had become visible and had stabbed the shit out of one of the Sisters. Kriskahn became a Jaguar and the rest of the part prepared to the fight that was sure to come.

    • Over by a large furnace there came a loud banging sound as though something was coming through the pipes. The Sister attacked Yakopulio and missed as the gnome was so evasive and quick and tiny.

    • From an adjacent room, they all heard many other Sisters assembling. As they were on their way out of the room, Rikara incapacitated two of them.

    • Janiven fired an arrow at the remaining Sister and missed. Vreth cast darkness in a corner to conceal themselves.

    • Appearing from the furnace, there came a horrifying fire elemental. They fought it and the remaining Sisters at the same time, Yakopulio nearly succumbing in the process and Janiven fighting recklessly. Eventually, they were forced to hide from the Elemental as they defeated the last of the Sisters. As soon as they hid, they realized that the Fire Elemental was apparently tied to that furnace, never to leave that room.

    • They made their way into the basement only to find it was full of urns with ashes of many, MANY victims of the Sisters. Vreth immediately broke one, prompting some casual racist from Igni. Eventually, they were able to find the one labelled with Coriana’s name.

    • They escaped back to the hideout and on the way, Vreth asked Rikara if thought Igni was being especially racist lately. Rikara mentioned that they HAD encountered many evil-ass tieflings in the past few weeks. Rikara suggested he talk to her about it…OR quit bitchin’.

    • On the way home Kriskahn saw above them, some tieflings sneaking up on them. The party tried to simply continue on their way, but eventually were ambushed…by Dravano the Digger and two of his lackeys (the green girl and the mummy).

    • The party fought hard…but soon realized that they were not nearly as strong as they had originally perceived them. All three were quickly dispatched and the party left the Red Shield in the blood of their enemies.

    • When they arrived at the hideout, they decided right then to go to work at contacting the soul of Coriana.

    • When they managed to contact her, they asked her about Delvehaven. The spirit told them about a password “Four empty flagons and a fifth, full” to say at the base of a staircase. She told them that the whole place was armed with “Guards and Wards”. They asked about Donatalus Bisby and Coriana appeared sad…saying he was a very good friend. Bisby carried a half of the relic and Ilnerik had escaped with the other half. They discovered that the Thrunes had hired the Sisters of Eiseth to kill her. Lastly, the spirit told them that Dargentu Vheed helped the Thrunes re-organize the lodge. And with that, the party had all they needed and the candle expired.
