Summary:
Corvinus showed up and the gang explained to him what had just happened and why they were there to begin with.
Rikara and Dosga decided to go to the temple and throw themselves on Glorybuff’s mercy and get themselves healed.
Corvinus began sneaking out adverts to the Devildrome, he followed the two to the temple.
When Rikara and Dosga got to the temple, and Dosga asked if Glorybuff would heal them up as a favor. The man was offended that the halfling would ask for such a thing for free. Rikara offered a donation, then Rikara mentioned they knew Igni. Glorybuff asked after her and they assured him she was doing well. With Corvinus’s help, he healed them for 200 gold and said he expected to see them both at services. Corvinus said the First Sword should also come see them at the theater. Glorybuff asked after Igni once more and they said she was not involved in the theater right now as she was called by Iomedae’s light.
They met up with Kriskahn and were on their way back to the hideout when they came upon an elderly elf seeming to hurry home. However, he was stopped by a Tiefling man who threatened him. Corvinus urged the others to stall him and ran down another alley. When the Tiefling pulled a blade, Rikara pulled her sword and with the others behind her, threatened the Tiefling back. The tiefling at first urged them to just walk away, but the party would do no such thing. Rikara moved the elf behind her and he promptly ran away as the fight ensued. Kriskahn became a snake and Dosga hopped up to the roof. Rikara fought the man on the ground.
Eventually they were able to overtake him with the help of a masked stranger who emerged from the alley. Rikara could tell it was Corvinus.
A small child saw the whole fight and asked who the masked badass was. After a terrible name idea from Rikara, the boy suggested they call him the “Laughing Devil”. They decided to bring the tiefling back to the hideout to question him.
When they arrived, they awoke Janiven and Arael so they could be a part of the interrogation.
After some roughing up, the tiefling gave up that he was with the Bastards of Erebus. They were looking for the Shield, but did not know where they were. Corvinus deciphered that the tiefling was thinking about whether or not Dravano was close enough to see where he had been taken. During the questioning, Dosga accidentally revealed Rikara’s identity and the man asserted that she must know Vreth Rasdovain. She asked where their hideout was and found they had not moved since the last attack. Lastly, the man surrendered his name…Garakas. Then Rikara knocked him.
Arael argued against killing him and erased the memory of Dosga revealing Rikara’s name. Dosga told Esmell not to look in the basement where Garakas was kept.
They all went to bed.
That morning, EARLY, they left for the beach. They brought Ailin, Amiah and Arael.
Before they left, Rikara asked Amiah how she was doing with the “whole new body and dyin’…thing.” Amiah apologized profusely for her cowardice in the arena. Rikara assured her she wasn’t a coward and she was here for a reason.
On the way to the beach they happened upon a swarm of shadow-rats and eventually overtook them, Kriskahn (in panther form) taking most of the brunt.
Finally they found their way to the beach and out into the water. Rikara recited the Delvehaven Oath, holding the Wayfinder aloft and the cache opened. Inside was a locker full of items and chest with more items and a note.
Ailin wanted to read the materials as soon as they made it back to the beach, but the others thought better of it and made their way back to the hideout first.
It was a note from Lore Master Lirium outlining how Ilnirik stole the Totemrix which exposed him to magic “fell and vile” which perhaps has turned him into a vampire. The party knew they needed to get the Morrowfall and Totemrix back.
They decided they still needed to talk to Coriana about the wards on Delvehaven…and to get to Coriana, they needed to get inside the Massacre house.
Ailin paid them for Ghaelfin, Lirium, and Ilnirik. 3000 Gold.
They realized that perhaps their meeting Vanwhynn Malkestra (the vampire hunter) several weeks ago, was perhaps connected to their quest now.
